Elizabeth Arden once stated that, "To be beautiful is the birthright of every woman." I couldn't agree more. That is what this little blog of mine is essentially about - sharing beauty tips so that you can be the best version of yourself, should you choose.
That being said, if you are ever in New York, you really should stop by Elizabeth Arden's legendary, Red Door Spa. From the moment you step through the vibrant, welcoming red doors, you are embraced by all things beauty. I happened to be in the city last week on some beauty business of my own and had the absolute pleasure of walking through the Red Doors in what is basically a rite of passage in NYC's beauty world. After an early morning flight, a massage and facial at this iconic destination were just what I needed ignite some confidence in my lackluster skin and to ease my tense shoulders. While I was there, Janet, one of their top facialists (and lover of HSN) gave me the 411 on taking my skin to another level. If you are like me and suffer from uneven skin tone, dehydration, and general tiredness (who doesn't?), read ahead!

So often our skin is dry and tight after we cleanse, especially in the cooler weather. Lately, I have been using Elizabeth Arden's Ceramide Cleansing Oil and my skin has loved me for it! Initially, it sounds counterintuitive to add oil onto your skin in order to cleanse it, but the oil actually lifts away dirt and makeup, yet unlike harsh traditional cleansers, it adds radiance through an infusion of Omegas 3, 6, and 9 and ultra-nourishing Vitamin E.

If you are looking for radiant and hydrated skin, start facial steaming. I have done this on and off for years, and can tell you that when I use it, my skin never looks better. The warm steam opens up pores and allows for your products to be better absorbed into your skin. Sometimes I like to pat a concentrated oil ( Super Glow from Glossier is incredible) onto my face before I steam for extra youthful, dewy skin.

After spending most of my life in the Florida sun, I cannot hide from the fact that some damage has been done (Spring Break '03 anyone?). I have considered IPL lasers for years, but I am trying Skinceuticals CE Ferulic antioxidant serum first. This little serum is loaded with potent percentages of vitamin C which can last on the skin for 72 hours. Combined with Vitamin E and ferulic acid, it shields your skin against UVA/UVB rays, infrared rays, and tons of environmental toxins which damage your skin. It also reverses photodamage and brightens your complexion. SOLD!

Please don't roll your eyes at my waggling finger, but we all know by now how important it is to wear SPF everyday. From one rebellious spirit to another, don't go fight this beauty must. Regardless of weather or season, SPF must be had. Elizabeth Arden's Prevage anti-aging moisturizer with SPF 30
is a perfect partner to your daily routine because it not only protects your skin against UVA/UVB rays, it contains, Idebenone, a powerful antioxidant that adds extra protection against environmental aggressors. I love that, unlike many SPFs that I have tried (i.e. truckloads), Prevage moisturizes but is not heavy. Okay, I will step off my SPF soapbox now.
"A woman must first achieve health" - E.A.
A morning without hot lemon water is like a morning without coffee. Both are absolutely essential. Throughout the years I have read a plethora of advice on the benefits of lemon, particularly in terms of good skin. Every morning, through barely open eyes, I squeeze the juice of half of a lemon into a cup of hot water and drink it before I ingest anything else. This drink gets my body up and running and promotes good immunity and overall well-being. Janet, my facials at Red Door, gave me another lemon tip. Place clean lemons ( it is very important that they are organic, or at the very least well washed, because you with be using the peel) in the freezer and grate them all over your salads, in your drinks, wherever you can really. Not only are the health benefits through the roof, but your skin will glow as a result.
