Adapting Beauty

July 10, 2018

Right now, at 8 months pregnant, I am going through a time of adaptation. This doesn't just mean that my stomach looks like someone has pumped it so full of air that I may float away, but I have had to adapt my beauty routine as well and embrace a more "gentle yet effective" regimen, which is far different than a lifetime mantra of the "no pain no gain" mentality of loving the sting and burn that some products leave.

The beauty world has been buzzing with the demand for clean beauty (i.e. products without harsh chemicals and toxins).  With so many new, natural brands popping up everywhere, one may not know where to start.  Don't get me wrong, I am still all about a good glycolic pad, but you may be surprised at how effective a pain-free routine may actually be!

Radiant Beauty

A few years ago I was using a harsh cleanser and with a cleansing brush and also exfoliating my skin multiple times per week.  Needless to say, my skin was very mad and my breakouts where at an all time high.  Even though I was completely skeptical of them, I finally traded my hardcore face washes for more gentle cleansing oils.  The cleansing oil worked wonders and I have never turned back!  Right now, I am crazy about Tatcha's skincare, from their masks to their cleansers, you are sure to have gorgeous clear skin, without any toxins too!

No Stress Beauty

I recently discovered this amazing new brand called Youth to the People.  One of my favorite products is their Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream which contains several different adaptogens (herbs that help your skin adapt to different environments) mixed with pentapeptides to help your skin ward off inflammation from things such as daily UV stressors and pollution.  Not only does this moisturizer contain some impressive ingredients, it also leaves out the bad stuff as well!  Feel the Om my friends.

Inside Beauty

After a very beautiful friend of mine divulged her secret of taking collagen to beat the need for botox and filler, my love of collagen was renewed.  I used to take a hair, skin, and nail vitamin, but not on the regular.  After researching ways to keep stretch marks at bay, I up'd my collagen game and started taking Vital Proteins' Collagen Peptide powder*.  The unflavored one is great with a few drops of my favorite hydrating coconut water drops.

Uncover Your Beauty

Forget your typical CC cream or tinted moisturizer. I am crazy about Josie Maran's Protect + Perfect Argan Daily Moisturizer with SPF 47.  The first time I wore this, I had several complements on my "pregnancy glow".  Let me tell you, the only thing naturally gleaming from my skin at the moment are broken capillaries and darker sunspots, so I knew that it was this tinted moisturizer.  I love that there are fatty acids in it to plump up my skin, plus there is SPF 47 to protect it. It color corrects to, which means that it is basically fool proof.  I already know that this will be the ultimate lifesaver when the baby comes and I am applying this with one eye open!

Have you been interested in adapting your beauty regimen to a more natural one?  I would love to hear about it!  Please leave me a message or comment below! XO
